This truck is being listed as a 1944. I am not sure -- the serial number
matches 1944, so we constructed this unit to fit that period. We built this
out of 3 different units. The cab and front end are from a 1945 KD64 ambulance
and the box is off a 1944 WC 51. The chassis and engine are from a WC51,
but not sure what year. Engine is a T214. Engine runs good and carries 45
psi oil pressure at idle. It is a bit tired though. Smokes as you can see
in the photos below. All engine components are also set up for the late
war period. When we were putting it together, a bunch of new parts were
added. There is virtually no rot on the truck. It does have some surface
rust, but that is all. All the tool box floors are solid. Front fenders
are solid and are not swelled up at the lower gusset plates. Cab is rust
free. The KD came out of Utah, and the box came from Northern CA. Good straight
running boards. The inner windshield frame is the only exception. It is
rusty on the bottom rail. We have our new reproduction ones in stock. Combat
wheels all around with tires that hold air, but you will want to put new
tires on for regular use. New parts added during construction: Blackout
marker lights, Headlamp bulbs, Spark plugs, Voltage regulator, Gen to reg
harness, 6V battery, Ignition switch, Trailer socket assembly, 6V Taillights,
Choke cable, Rebuilt carb, NOS fuel pump with new diaphragm, New fuel line
kit with hoses, Radiator hoses, Fan belt, Speedo cable, Outside mirror assembly,
and a Complete exhaust system.
We did not do any brake work or lighting work during construction. We did
not want to drive the labor cost up when you can do this work yourself and
invest sweat equity.
